About our Founder and Head Teacher:
Dr. Liping Zhu, DAOM, L.Ac., founder of the Heavenly Essence Qigong Institute and Qi Dragon Healing Center, received her Qigong master level training in China and is a certified Qigong and Swimming Dragon Taichi instructor. She has received direct transmission from her masters and is a disciple of both the Heavenly Essence Qigong lineage and Tai Yi Swimming Dragon Gong Sect.
Dr. Zhu is the Head Teacher for the Heavenly Essence Qigong Institute. She has more than 20 years of experience in teaching Qigong and Taichi. She is one of the leading instructors and translators who brought Heavenly Essence Qigong system to the west. Dr. Zhu was the Qigong Professor at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine for more than 15 years. and taught Qigong and Taichi at San Francisco State University, San Francisco Zen Center, Green Gulch Farm and Tassajara Zen Mountain Center etc. In 2010, she became a Shuso in the Soto Zen tradition after a 10-year residency at the San Francisco Zen Center. Dr. Zhu is also an acupuncturist licensed in California and nationally and holds a doctorate degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She currently lives and practices acupuncture in Eureka and Fortuna, Humboldt County. Her husband Philip Brown, one of HEQI’s board members has been one of the biggest support for her mission of teaching Heavenly Essence Qigong and Swimming Dragon Taichi in the west.
